An alternative for those of us who can’t arrange a sock drawer

My sock drawer has always been a mess. I have so many different types of socks - different thicknesses, different lengths - that no drawer divider seems just right. If all the compartments are the same size, one pair will barely cram into its compartment and the next pair leaves almost enough room for a second pair. For years now, I’ve just lived with it.

Then I got an idea: attach clothes pins to hangers, clip the socks to it, and hang them in the closet. Depending how your closet is configured, you could also string them across the closet just above where your clothes hang. Not only is it more tidy, it’s a lot easier to see what you’ve got when you’re making a selection:

And now I’ve got an empty drawer to put to use.
