Another way to get off junk circular mailing lists
by Jen
As my regular readers will know, I’m a big fan of getting off junk mail lists. My real mail is quite enough stuff to process, file, scan and shred. The last thing I need is more paperwork!
My new carrier is not respecting my right to write “refused: return to sender” on junk mail that refuses to stop coming, despite my contacting the companies that send it. Refusing this mail is the only option I have left. In discussing this with my carrier’s supervisor, the supervisor informed me there’s another option for getting rid of those junk circulars that the post office delivers as part of a deal with companies who help fund their operations (the post office is partly tax funded, partly private).
Write to the following address and tell them not to send any of those circulars to your address:
Mail Preference Service
PO Box 9008
Farmingdale, NY 11735
I’ve only just sent mine in, so I can’t tell you what the results are yet. My fingers are crossed!

When I receive junk mail that has a postage paid envelope in it, I find every piece of junk mail, envelopes, anything and everything. Then I stuff the envelope full. Send it back to them in their postage paid envelope and I get rid of all of the junk mail I have received. It works.
