Ayr and Simply Saline: two winter cold aids

by Jen

51uL+PYmo+L._SL160_To keep your nasal passages and throat from becoming dry during the low humidity winter months, there are a couple of handy products you can easily keep with you in a purse or in the car to use almost anytime, anywhere.

Ayr Saline Nasal Gel is just a gel that you rub around the outside of your nostrils (or, if you’re a traditionalist who’s not afraid of packaging warnings, inside your nostrils). Breathing through it somehow moistens the nasal passages and, indirectly, the throat. I’ve used it for several winters now and always keep a tube with me.

21T1WBAALPL._SL160_Another option I like to keep on hand is Simply Saline Nasal Mist. Just like it sounds, this is a saline mist you can spray into your nose to moisturize as well as cleanse (there are instructions for using it to clean your sinuses, which can be great for congestion or infection).

Worth noting: both brands make both types of products and then some. I haven’t tried them all but I suspect they’re all good. That gives you two brands to choose from.
