Better Hamburgers with mix-in ingredients
If you usually just make your burger patties out of ground beef and maybe some seasoning, you’re missing out on a lot of fun. The beauty of working with ground meat is that you can add anything you want into the patty. Try adding an egg to every pound of beef; this improves both the consistency and the flavor (and keeps it together on the grill). Garlic, onions and Worcestershire sauce are all winners for seasoning, but don’t be afraid to try wacky sounding things like sundried tomatoes, curry, sour cream or lemon pepper.
But that’s still just seasoning. You can add grated cheese, herbs, cooked onions and finely chopped peppers, too.
You can also improve your hamburgers by venturing beyond the plain bun – ciabatta and focaccia breads taste great, especially basted with butter.
