Freshen smelly carpets and rugs

Mix a cup of Borax with 2 cups of cornmeal. Sprinkle it over the carpet and let it stand for an hour. Then vacuum.

For even better freshening, mix 3/4 cup of baking soda with 2 tablespoons of corn starch and 1/4 cup of perfumed talcum powder. Sprinkle that on the carpet, let it stand 15 minuets, then vacuum.
