Combating unconscious spending
by Jen (December 18, 2007)
Schedule a weekly appointment to track all your bank accounts and active credit cards, and those little purchases that add up won’t escape your attention for long. If you have a tendency to buy stuff when you’re busy or stressed (I think we all deal with this to some extent or another), you can get a shock when the credit card bill or monthly bank statement comes in. By setting up an actual appointment in your To Do calendar and checking these things once (or more) per week, you make yourself more aware of what you’re doing, and this carries over to when you’re in stores considering purchases.
