Create a “Command Center”
by Jen
There is some paperwork you want to have in a more handy place than some file drawer in the back room. But you also want to make sure it has a place, so it won’t become cluttered and end up getting lost. Stacks and Stacks suggests you create a home Command Center in a basket.
I bought a basket and popped two three-ring binders into it. One binder is for all of our family information. The other is my recipe binder.
I also have a section in the back with a few file folders for things that I don’t want to hole punch.
This is a great idea. Not only for having the info you need at your fingertips anytime, but also for emergency preparedness: you could keep one binder full of your important documents that you’d need in the event of having to evacuate your home suddenly.
I think the basket’s important because it clearly sets up a place where your command center belongs and makes you want to return stuff to its “home” rather than leave it laying around somewhere. But it could also occupy a certain spot in a bookshelf or cabinet.
