DIY Landscaping and that tricky side yard
If you have a narrow side yard running between your house and the next property, it may seem like wasted space. There’s not enough room to do anything recreational there, and there’s not a lot of room for growing plants, either. And chances are, you get some long shadows from your house in the middle of the day.
The You Can Learn series has some suggestions for landscape design on the side of a house. It covers plants that can deal with that tricky combination of sun and shade, all of which grow well together.
He details how to set up your side yard with three different perennials that will keep it in bloom all year long, with or without sunshine. He also gives you a diagram showing you exactly how to arrange the plants so they’ll get along and beautify that part of your yard.
He’s also got you covered if your challenge is a corner yard that gets a lot of sun.
