Doing garage sales right
The holidays are over, and now you’re left with a ton of junk to clean up, and very probably some debt. Once you’ve repurposed and recycled all the gift wrap and boxes, you might decide it’s time to have a garage sale, and turn some of the stuff you haven’t even touched in a while into cash.
TipNut has the ultimate Garage Sale Tips For Success – How To Guide:
I’ve managed several garage sales (or yard sales) over the past 10 to 15 years, both for our own household goods as well as for family and friends. I love operating them, but they are a lot of work and if you don’t play your cards right–they can be a complete waste of time.
Here is my guide full of tips for running a successful garage sale, feel free to add yours too!
What follows is a whopping 5400+ word article containing everything you could imaginably want to know about running garage sales. Everything from when to have them and how often to what to charge for various items. How to get people to come. Etc. It’s an incredible, exhaustive list.
But I can actually add one more tip: Pets. Either keep them in the house so they’re not underfoot of your guests, or keep them somewhere that they can be adorable and visible, but not underfoot. An enthusiastic dog or friendly cat can scare off people who don’t want to get jumped on, are allergic, or just don’t know how to handle animals. These people are potential buyers, too.
