Ice cubes from leftover wine
by Jen
There’s a lot of advice for preserving leftover wine to be drunk another day. You can use vacuum devices and other gadgets to extend an open bottle’s life for a few more days, up to a couple of weeks.
Or you can freeze the leftover wine in an ice cube tray. That preserves the flavor really well for future use.
Wine ice cubes can be used for several things:
- To chill a glass of wine on a summer day without watering it down (as regular ice cubes would do)
- As part of a wine cocktail (check out these recipes).
- Use them in cooking – take out as many as you need and let them melt. (This can be an better tasting alternative than cheap cooking wine, but more economical than buying a good drinking wine for cooking with)
