Herbal tea that almost replaces dessert

by Jen (February 13, 2008)

I’m currently avoiding caffeine and sugar (as best I can), so I recently went to the store to find something hot I could drink in place of coffee and black tea. I left with several herbal teas, not expecting much.

Celestial Seasoning’s Red Safari Spice Rooibos Tea was a pleasant shock. It’s got a nice spicy bite to it, but also a natural fruity sweetness that really makes me feel like I’ve had a treat. Even without sweetener. I think it’s the blueberry that makes it so close to a dessert.

I have a friend who loves Yogi’s Egyptian Licorice Mint tea for the same purpose. I can’t stand licorice flavor in anything, but if you can, there’s a recommendation for you.

I’m sure there are other herbal teas that taste this good. Let me know your favorites!
