Make a catcher out of a milk jug

If you’re looking for something to do with your plastic milk jugs before tossing them into the recycling heap, ReplayGround has the solution with instructions for making catchers out of them. No, they’re not catchers for any particular sport - you just throw stuff and try to catch it with these.

Sooner or later, however, you’re likely to have more catchers than you could ever use. Some other things you can do with old milk jugs, after rinsing them really well and letting them drain dry upside down so there’s no milk residue left, include:

  • Store seeds or dried foods (like rice or popcorn) in them.
  • Cut off the top and use them to hold scrub brushes. They also make dandy little wastepaper baskets, and with a little decoration no one will ever suspect what they were.
  • Fill them with water, freeze them, and set them so a fan blows air over them on a hot day. This adds extra cooling power to your fans.
  • Use them as planters. Again, cut off the top.
  • Cut off the bottoms and use those as serving dishes for outdoor gatherings or anything where you don’t want to use your “nice” dishes.
  • Cut off the top and use them to store cleaners under kitchen or bathroom cabinets. You can group cleaners and tools so that instead of pulling out several items at once, you just pull out this little bucket and carry it to wherever you’re cleaning.
  • Let the kids play “kick the can” with them.
