Make your own furniture polish with olive oil

1162638_oilStore-bought furniture polish is not particularly environmentally friendly, and can irritate the respiratory systems in some people. There’s a better option: make your own furniture polish out of two parts olive oil to one part lemon juice. You can substitute vegetable oil for the olive oil, and you should not use virgin olive oil.  This recipe is for finished wood.

To polish unfinished wood, dissolve a teaspoon of lemon oil into a cup of mineral oil. In this recipe, you don’t have to include the lemon oil – it’s just for fragrance. Straight mineral oil will do the job.

Lemon does not have to be used at all – it’s mainly for scent. Just plain oil
