Make your own worm composting (vermicomposting) bin

Remember a few months ago when I asked if there were any composting solutions for people in apartments? And it turns out there are a number of $300 units you can buy, which is not in everyone’s budget (especially since composting doesn’t pay for itself unless you can use it for gardening, which renters usually can’t).
Amyoungs at Instructables has a tutorial for creating your very own worm composting bin. It’s not the simplest thing to put together - you’ll need some tools and some patience - but she estimates the cost for materials at under $50.
Worm composting done properly has no stink whatsoever. Her design intentionally takes into account some of the problems you can run into and gives you a good start. Things can sometimes go wrong (nothing’s perfect), but there are troubleshooting guides to help you fix problems and get back on the road to good composting.
