Metallic Sharpies to label plastic stuff

chargersStacks and Stacks’ Clutter Control Freak Blog has a great suggestion for labeling all your various electronic chargers that look pretty much alike: use a metallic Sharpie marker to write on them what device they’re for. Metallic because chargers are usually black.

Which got me thinking just how many ways Sharpies could help you organize.

  • Label 7 plastic leftover containers by the days of the week. Put each night’s leftovers in the appropriate night’s container, and you know how old that food is and when to throw it out.
  • If you take a lot of supplements and can’t find a plastic container with the days of the week on it that’s big enough to hold everything, make your own by getting plain pastic and writing your own labels on it.
  • Label office supplies that belong on your desk or in a copy room so people are less likely to, say, walk off with the tape dispenser that’s supposed to be in the mail room.

Any other ideas?

Thanks for the Clutter Control Freak mention – our new blog is booming because of wonderful people like you! I like your Sharpie ideas. I use them for labeling my water bottles and salsa jars in the fridge at work. My kids use them for writing “Poison – DO NOT EAT” or simply plastering their names all over their special food items in our fridge at home. :)
