No more double-clicking folders (Windows)
I’ve been playing with Folder Options in Windows, and I just found there’s a way to set it so you need only click a folder once to open it. This is going to save me a lot of clicking – and the time lost when I don’t quite get double-clicks right and it ignores them.
- Open up your “Windows Explorer”. If there’s no icon for this in your Start Menu, go into “All Programs” (at the bottom) and choose “Accessories”. Windows Explorer should be in there.
- In Windows Explorer, click the “Tools” menu at the top. Choose “Folder Options” from the dropdown.
- It will open to the “General” tab. Find the “Click Items as follows” box. Check “Single-click to open an item.”
- Two new options pop up below. The first one ‘Underline icon titles consistent with my browser” is checked by default. If you leave it that way, all folders will have underlines under their names, which I found annoying. The second option “Underline icon titles only when I point at them” does just what it sounds like, and that’s the one I prefer.
