Online services that help you go paperless

1218054_waste-basket____3Whether you want to save the environment or just reduce dusty clutter and storage in your home or office, keeping fewer document hard copies is very helpful. Web Worker Daily has a list of several services (most with free and paid options) that help you avoid paper and still get your documents. There are online faxing solutions that let you view faxes online rather than have to print them, contract signing programs, etc. There are even companies that receive your mail, open it, scan it and email you the scans so you never have to physically receive a piece of mail you don’t need.

Keeping a scanner at home is another option. You can scan and shred almost every piece of mail as you get it and keep only the ones you need in physical form. Scanning is great for those times when you think a piece of paperwork is utterly useless, but you’re scared to actually trash it – like stuff from your doctor’s visits or health insurance company that might as well be in hieroglyphics, but might actually serve a purpose for all you know. ;)
