Open Office – it’s like Microsoft Office, except free
by Jen
If your computer came with a copy of Microsoft Office, that’s great. If not, there is absolutely no reason to pay for that software. Presenting Open Office, the free clone for Windows or Mac.
I’ve been using it for over a year now – on both Mac and Windows – and I prefer it to the expensive and bloated Microsoft alternative. It actually does a few things – like saving documents in PDF format – that Microsoft doesn’t do. It also saves the files much smaller, which means more room on your hard drive. I also think it works a bit faster than Microsoft.
It’s got all the modules Office has – spreadsheets, presentations, text documents, etc. And it’s free!
