Painting glass
by Jen (April 8, 2007)
Acrylic enamel paint will stick to glass. This one simple fact opens up a whole world of crafting and decor ideas.
If you’re fairly confident of your skills, take a flat piece of glass, put a simple picture behind it, and paint the picture onto the glass. This makes beautiful suncatchers and piece of faux stained glass.
If failed “coloring in the lines” in kindergarten like I did, have no fear. Cut sponges into shapes, dip them in paint and slap ‘em on your glass object. This still requires a little artistry: you might want to use measuring tools to mark where each of your shapes are going to go, to keep them even. Remember, this can be pretty simple - a few flowers or hearts nakes a plain glass bowl very special. Which means it can also be a very quick project, done while you’re in the middle of moving and you want to make a nice little gift for a birthday that’s having very bad timing this year.
If you’re hopeless even at that, forget patterns. Go for a post-modern masterpiece, and just paint crazy zigzags and whatever.
