Sew your own liner for a basket

Whether you’ve got a naked basket that could use a nice soft liner or a lined basket whose liner is no longer cleaning up as nice as it once did, you can make your own liner. You can use all sorts of fabrics, including scraps from around the house or found in a local thrift shop.

For this particular project I cut up a valance found at my local Goodwill. I chose this valance because the maroon chenille fabric it was made from suited this project very well. Other fabrics that would work well in this project include: home decorator weight fabrics, good-quality cotton quilting fabric, or a bottomweight corduroy or twill.

You could even sew together scraps of old clothes, quilt-style, to make the liner.
