Don't be embarrassed! "Sterilize" IS a technical term, and while I hope no one would think they could use dishwasher cleansed Ziplocs for a blood transfusion, you never know. ;)
Please feel free to comment any time, pain killers or not. :D

Hi,
I'm really embarrassed that I left that comment above. I just had some surgery and was under the influence of a lovely narcotic pain killer. It seems that I thought people truly needed to know that dishwashers don't actually sterilize baggies -- as if someone might take one into surgery or something. "Nurse, quart-sized ziploc, please." You must think I'm a terrible know-it-all. Please forgive?

Tipnut, you're welcome, and thank you!
Working Girl, you're exactly right - poor choice of words on my part. I've edited the post. Thanks for the correction - I certainly don't want to misinform anyone.

Hi, nice site! As a nosy nurse, I couldn't help but comment on the ziplock baggies in the dishwasher. A dishwasher can clean a baggy, however it's very unlikely that a residential dishwasher sustains a high enough temperature for long enough or enough psi to actually sterilize an item. Not that we really need sterile baggies...clean will usually suffice...
