Unplug electronics to save power
So you think turning your electronics off means they’re using no power at all, right? Nope, nothing’s ever that simple. Turns out off is not really off.
The Florida Energy Center published a paper showing that when researchers examined 633 products, 598 wasted electricity while plugged in even though they were at an “off” setting and weren’t being used.
I hate to think how much electricity I’m paying for that I don’t really use! Click over to read a list of the worst offenders and what new technology may help rechargers waste less power. Unplugging would be a hard, inconvenient habit to get into, but it might be worth it.

I’ve got my hard-to-unplug items, like all the stuff related to the TV, plugged into surge suppressors. Not only do they protect the equipment, they generally have on-off switches that let you disconnect them from the power supply easily, without having to crawl on your belly like a reptile.
