Using foldover elastic in sewing projects

by Jen (July 29, 2008)

Foldover elastic is used in place of ribbing to finish sewing projects. It has a nice decorative look, comes in a ton of colors, and doesn’t create any bulk around the edges. You can use it to finish sleeves, leg holes, waistbands, necklines, etc.

Amy at Angry Chicken has a video tutorial on using foldover elastic, with links to several more video tutorials by other people, and links to non-video tutorials where she uses it in clothing projects.

For those who aren’t crazy about videos (or waiting for them to load on a slow connection), Chloe’s Toes Boutique has a non-video tutorial for using FOE on a homemade diaper. Whether you want to make diapers or something else, it’ll give you an idea how to work with it.
